Mommy!

In light of the upcoming Mother's Day holiday, I thought I'd share some pictures from the previous one! My sister and I (read: my sister...have you ever even seen me near a stove?) conjured up an incredible mommylicious feast for our favorite person in the whole wide world. Yeah...when it comes to our mom, we don't mess around. Or at least my sister doesn't.

Letchworth

I went up-up-up-upstate to Geneseo to visit a friend of mine several weeks ago. We had a grand ol' time (details of which should probably not be disclosed here), but one of the highlights of my weekend vacation was driving up to Letchworth State Park, aptly named "the Grand Canyon of the East." To be honest, I wasn't expecting much; I thought I'd be in for the usual park stuff -- a pretty view, some flowers, a bench or two if I were lucky. Sleepy and a little hungover, I was shocked when we finally arrived at what appeared to me like something out of Little House on the Prairie (and I mean that in the best way possible of course). The park was beautiful; these pictures don't even come close to doing justice to the views. The air, as well, was a welcome change from the lovely fumes we call "oxygen" in Manhattan. The words pristine and crisp come to mind.

A Pause

When I first decided to make this blog a public one, I had hoped I'd be encouraged to write about different things. Things besides my own feelings. As it turns out, I've had annoying mental blocks ever since then that have prevented me from doing so. Apparently, I have nothing else to say! So, for the time being, I think I'll be posting pictures that inspire me, that encourage me daily to change the person that I am and become the person that I want to be. Until I can gather up the courage and confidence to say what I really want to say. Until I can find my voice again.

A Happy Medium

Sometimes I can't help but wonder: when did things start becoming so difficult? When do you leave the land of self-indulgence and spontaneous decision-making and enter the hell that is adulthood? I wonder which territory I currently stand on. I'm finding that more and more of my choices are made conscientiously, with other people and consequences in mind. And I'm very proud of this. I think back to the kind of person I was just a year ago and I can see the actual, even tangible changes in the kind of person I am now. I'm more level-headed, rational, self-conscious and less childish, stubborn. And I'm happy about all this, but there is still a long way to go. I know that much as well. Still, I have to admit that part of me continues to revel in my immaturity sometimes. I secretly love that a lot of the choices that I make are often governed by baser instincts and impulses. Case in point: I was really craving a cheeseburger today...so I had one. With french fries. And a soda. There was no hesitation whatsoever (though I realize that this example is not exactly the strongest supporting evidence to my statement). And I just love that about me. But back to my original question! I just want to be able to find and maintain a balance between the two as I continue to grow older. To be an adult yet continue to seek personally fulfilling [and perhaps selfish] childish pleasures. To find that happy medium between thinking about others and only thinking about yourself. Because I firmly believe that one is just as important as the other.

WHY, RAIN, WHY?!

Wow. It hasn't rained this hard in a LOOOOOOONG time. Nobody is on the streets! And the wind. I was literally blown down the street on my way to drop off some books at the library. Topshop, my dearest...you're gonna have to wait. I barely made it to the neighborhood library, let alone to you =( I'm crying inside.
